Revenue
Revenue — sometimes called sales or the "top line" — is the starting point of an income statement, before cost of revenue, operating expenses, interest, and taxes are subtracted to arrive at net income. Revenue growth without profit growth can mean rising costs are eating the gain, which is why margins matter alongside it.
