Max drawdown
Max drawdown tracks equity's highest point so far and measures the worst percentage decline from that peak at any later point — it captures the deepest hole the account was ever in, not just the ending result. Two strategies can end at the same equity with very different max drawdowns, and the one with the deeper drawdown asks more of whoever is trading it.
